Naughty Dog’s head of technology Christian Gyrling has left the studio, Naughty Dog revealed in a statement which was published to its social channels.
Gyrling is not just the former head of tech, he was also a 17-year veteran at the studio, a certified ‘old dog’ who had been with the studio since the beginning of the Uncharted series.
While it’s not clear if Gyrling is retiring or will be continuing in games elsewhere, what makes the departure so surprising is that he was only in the role of head of technology for four months, restructured into the position after Evan Wells left.
As far as who’ll be replacing Gyrling, that honour goes to Travis McIntosh, another studio ‘old dog’ who has been with Naughty Dog for 19 years now.
“Our head of technology Christian Gyrling has decided to leave Naughty Dog after an amazing 17-year career at our studio,” the statement began.
“We’re grateful for his many contributions to the studio, our games, and his teammates. We will miss Christian greatly and wish him the best of luck on where his path leads next.
Travis McIntosh, a 19-year veteran at Naughty Dog, will succeed Christian as head of technology.”
