The PS5 is a notoriously huge console, even with the hardware refreshes Sony has given the console to make it lighter, and take up a little less space.
That anyone could have a full-blown PS5 on-the-go or a system equivalent to its power is a bit of a pipe dream, at least for now with today’s technology.
Or so you may have thought. YouTube channel DIY Perks, the same one who previously created the first ever “Slim” PS5 has figured out a way to make this gargantuan console portable. At least, slightly portable.
In the video below, DIY Perks takes you through all the steps they took to create the PS5 Tablet. Finished with a 4K OLED screen and a sleek look that’s slightly reminiscent of the PS2.
It’s more than impressive to see how it all turns out, though the steps make it clear this is not something you should try at home.
Unless you have all the know how, tools, money and spare time to do it. Then stay safe and have at it.
The PlayStation Portal isn’t really the kind of portable experience PlayStation fans are looking for. While its sales numbers clearly indicate there is a market for the Portal, it’s only a quarter-step of the way to a proper handheld device.
At the very least this video produces something portable. It’s extremely easy to shove something like that in a backpack, and take it with you on trips or to a friend’s house.
It could even be a new rebirth of LAN parties for consoles. Hopefully the right person at Sony sees this video, or at least shows it to Mark Cerny.
